Notes

One of the biggest difficulties with the Open format is successfully building a midgame-focused deck. The more usual approaches gravitate towards the "insanely fast" or "insanely controlling" variants, leaving a gap in the middle ground for decks that can successfully withstand the "insanely fast" ones while packing enough of a punch to oppress the "insanely controlling" ones as well. That is the domain of the Crab, and of Razor's Edge Dojo in particular. The Stronghold's incredible innate attrition gives you a very favorable midgame against, well, anything that targets your personalities really. Combining the box's trait with Hida Kuon xp3 and Hida Osote makes your opponent's Limited/Open actions cost him a staggering 2-3 cards overhead, which is generally unsustainable. On the other hand, you are Crab, so you get an 8PS and access to very decent F2G ratio units who can mount up an early defense against blitz. You also get a very decent defensive combo in Defensive Duty, which gets Hida into your province (for +14PS) and then into the battle via Hida's ability. With a starting hand size of 5, your opponent will be hard pressed to mount his offensive, Sneak Attack you, kill your defender, discard a card for the stronghold's trait, and still have enough resources to crush your province. If he doesn't Sneak Attack, the incomparable Strength of the Crab can turn your lone defender into an untargeteable powerhouse. Border Keep experienced is used here as meta search, combined with The First Wedding and The Last Prophecy to give you a decent shot at your selection of 1-of and 2-of meta cards.
