Notes

GAUNTLET deck, tier #10 What do you get when you combine one of the most powerful Strongholds with the most powerful Sensei and a few of the most efficient Shugenja ever printed? Emperor Edition brought the Inquisitors theme, and with it two personalities - Asako Jirou and Asako Tsunefusa - that can give the Shadowlands trait, as an Open action, to any personality in play. This, so you could use them with the Temple of Purity stronghold and gain honor or dishonor your opponent. In the Open card pool, however, you can use it better with Darkness Beyond Darkness, Rest my Brother, and Tomb of Jade to get free/low cost PKill that doesn't care about Force, Chi, GC, PH, attachments... Sacred Temple of the Phoenix produces a staggering 7G for Shugenjas or spells, giving the "involved" Shugenja the Shadowlands trait (which you really don't care about) and (more importantly) bypassing Norikazu Sensei's -1GP adjustment. This frees up event meta slots in your Fate and keeps you safe from Shadowlands/corrupt deck "hosers" such as Iris Festival, Dead Walk the Earth, and No Mercy. With the Blood Money rule, Tsunefusa and Jirou are both boxable, as is the all-mighty Quelsa, whom you can equip with Kuro's Fire and either Strength of the Tsunami or Might of the Sun to have a unit capable of decimating entire armies. Doomed Intentions gives you safety on the defense, and Suitengu's Surge protects your big unit almost entirely.
