Big Deck
DECK CONSTRUCTION
“STARTING FIVE”
This group of cards makes up the resources that you start the game with. These cards do not count towards your deck size limit. You must include a Stronghold and the Holdings Border Keep (any experience level) and Bamboo Harvesters (any experience level) as part of this group. Additionally, you may include a Sensei and a Wind as part of your “Starting Five”. Note that Senseis and Winds are not mandatory and either one (or both) may be omitted from this group if desired.
DECK SIZES
Both the Dynasty and Fate decks must be exactly 80 cards each. The 80-card limit is meant to act as both the minimum cards allowed and the maximum cards allowed. There are some exceptions to this rule:
- The Khol Wall – This Stronghold states that Regions do not count towards the minimum deck size. For BigDeck, this means that any Region cards added to your Dynasty deck will not be counted towards the 80-card limit. Basically, all of your non-Region cards should add up to 80, and your Region cards will be extras.
- Cards that do not count towards your minimum deck size (like Stone of Remembrance) will result in your Dynasty and/or Fate
deck being greater than 80 cards.
- Cards that increase or decrease your minimum deck size (like Hato-gurama) will result in your Dynasty and/or Fate deck being greater or less than 80 cards.
MRP
The Most Recent Printing (MRP) of each card is used. For example, every version of Control is considered to have the same text as the Twenty Festivals version of that card, since the Twenty Festivals version was the MRP of Control.
There are some exceptions to this rule:
- The Ivory-legal Promo reprints of Border Keep (exp) and Bamboo Harvesters (exp) are not considered MRP for the purpose of this rule.
- Ring of Air, Ring of Earth, Ring of Fire, Ring of the Void, and Ring of Water are exceptions to the format's MRP Rule. This means that these Rings are played as printed. Players will be able to pick and choose which version of each Ring they wish to run. Every version will still count towards an Enlightenment Victory. The textless Ring promos released during the Emperor Arc will be treated as Emperor Edition Rings.
- Non-Celestial-legal cards from the CE15 reprint set, as well as all reprinted cards in the "Siege of the Sleeping Mountain" Learn-to-Play set, are not considered MRP for the purpose of this rule.
